The owner of Château Chêne Liège

The owner

At the age of 36, Philippe NIARFEIX (4th generation) took over the Château Chêne-Liège property, succeeding his father André NIARFEIX.

Before taking over the reins of the family winery, Philippe flew a few years to the Argentinian terroirs where he acquired a vineyard near Buenos Aires in the Uco Valley in Mendoza, “Domaine Clos Quaramy”, under the Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon grape varieties.

For seven years he perfected himself in the vinification of Latin American wines and was appointed judge (of Argentine wines), within the framework of national and international competitions.

It was therefore in 2000 that he returned to the lands of Pomerol and took possession of the Domaine Château Chêne-Liège.
In 2008 and 2009 Philippe develops the export, and keeps the traditional and authentic vinification methods with this graceful touch that make the reputation of the wines of the prestigious castle.

The 5th generation is already assured thanks to Marie, Philippe’s daughter, who has now accompanied him for 3 years, guiding the wines towards that feminine, precise and elegant touch, which have made the reputation of Château Chêne-Liège wines for more than two centuries now.
